10.03.06 | TRANSFIRST's Integrated Payment Processing Service Now Available to Discus Dental Software Users

Custom development allows dental offices to process all electronic payment types from their practice management system

DALLAS and BOSTON (October 3, 2006) — TRANSFIRST Health Services, Inc., a division of TRANSFIRST HOLDINGS, INC, a leading provider of credit card processing services and payment enabling technologies, and Discus Dental Software, Inc. (DISCUS), a leading provider of dental practice management software, clinical tools, and related accessories, announce their partnership to provide payment processing capabilities to users of DISCUS' suite of customized practice management solutions including DentalVision, OMSVision, PerioVision, EndoVision, and DentalVision Enterprise. The suite of custom software solutions was created especially for general dentists, oral surgeons, endodontists, periodontists, and large, multi-office, multi-location practices, serving 1,300+ practices and more than 5,000 dental providers.

The partnership linking DISCUS' practice management systems to TRANSFIRST's TRANSACTION CENTRAL™ processing gateway alleviates the need for conventional stand-alone point-of-sale equipment, reduces daily payment-handling tasks, improves staff productivity, and will help decrease outstanding accounts receivable. TRANSFIRST's integrated payment processing service combines broad processing capabilities for credit card, ACH (electronic check processing), and pin-based debit, as well as manual and automatic recurring payments, and website payment management. DISCUS clients no longer need to switch between their practice management software and outside payment processing programs, or move to a point-of-sale terminal to process their transactions.

Using TRANSACTION CENTRAL's advanced IP-based technology, practice management users can enter payments directly in the practice management software; will not have to wait for slow dial-up responses from the point-of-sale terminals; and no longer need to post payments manually to their patient records or accounting ledgers. Transactions are entered into the system and then sent for authorization to TRANSACTION CENTRAL. Within seconds, the response will be transmitted and received directly in the DISCUS program, auto-posting to patient files and accounting records, thus eliminating costly and redundant data entry.

"Providing real solutions is what we are all about," says DISCUS General Manager, Bruce Lieberthal. "Dental providers rely on DISCUS to consolidate business functions and increase efficiency and production in a thorough, simplistic fashion. Payment processing services is a huge component to the financial aspect of any practice, and by offering a program that alleviates extra equipment and repetitive data entry, while adding multiple levels of automation, our clients can better manage finances, achieve greater control on accounting, and consolidate core business functions in the DISCUS PMS system, which is already used for many other financially-related tasks and reporting tools. We think the integrated payment processing service provided through TRANSFIRST will be a success for all of our users."

Christy Corey, President of TRANSFIRST's Health Services division explains, "Efficient payment processing programs are a key component to the health of a dental practice. As dental providers' primary focus is their patients' health, enhanced payment solutions that improve patient and staff experience are often over-looked. By providing automated and consolidated tools and technology to integrate the private payment collection, dental providers can reduce costs, improve patient flow, increase revenue, reduce accounts receivable, and greatly increase efficiency. TRANSFIRST and Discus Dental Software have set the stage for users to rely and depend on one, robust system that will have an immediate, positive impact on their businesses."
